There is no shortcut to excellence

When we create content for a website we often visit a website and the site should solve a problem

The key factor is are you solving the clients problem and to  gain not lose customers

You should not push your solution so you must push the solution and not your solution
If you push your stuff too fast this will push them away

First deal with the clients problem
Then find the clients solution

Then show your solution
Build templates on how to build this process

Establish the problem find the solution and do not simply push your solution including your brand logo

Not 4 paragraphs doing your solution
Do the problem then present their solution so show that you know the problem and do not bring up your solution too fast lots of people make this mistake and our whole task is conversion not ego

Tag-line tips

To make a web site fly give it a tag-line
The goal is structured and this  is simply focussed on the problem

The before is the problem and the after is the solution
Not overly catchy just focus on the problem as customers have a short memory

No one cares about the tag-line they are trying to figure out what you do
Logo tag-line and questions about your product that simple

Make sure you have a problem and a solution as this will get the client from A 2 B fast
That tag-line brings them to focus on problem and solution

APPLE have made a fortune using the problem solution formula

1. Steve Jobs said: “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”

Innovation has no limits. The only limit is your imagination. It’s time for you to begin thinking out of the box. If you are involved in a growing industry, think of ways to become more efficient; more customer friendly; and easier to do business with. If you are involved in a shrinking industry – get out of it quick and change before you become obsolete; out of work; or out of business. And remember that procrastination is not an option here. Start innovating now!

2. Steve Jobs said: “Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.”
There is no shortcut to excellence. You will have to make the commitment to make excellence your priority. Use your talents, abilities, and skills in the best way possible and get ahead of others by giving that little extra. Live by a higher standard and pay attention to the details that really do make the difference. Excellence is not difficult – simply decide right now to give it your best shot – and you will be amazed with what life gives you back.

3. Steve Jobs said: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
I’ve got it down to four words: “Do what you love.” Seek out an occupation that gives you a sense of meaning, direction and satisfaction in life. Having a sense of purpose and striving towards goals gives life meaning, direction and satisfaction. It not only contributes to health and longevity, but also makes you feel better in difficult times. Do you jump out of bed on Monday mornings and look forward to the work week? If the answer is ‘no’ keep looking, you’ll know when you find it.

4. Steve Jobs said: “You know, we don’t grow most of the food we eat. We wear clothes other people make. We speak a language that other people developed. We use a mathematics that other people evolved… I mean, we’re constantly taking things. It’s a wonderful, ecstatic feeling to create something that puts it back in the pool of human experience and knowledge.”
Live in a way that is ethically responsible. Try to make a difference in this world and contribute to the higher good. You’ll find it gives more meaning to your life and it’s a great antidote to boredom. There is always so much to be done. And talk to others about what you are doing. Don’t preach or be self-righteous, or fanatical about it, that just puts people off, but at the same time, don’t be shy about setting an example, and use opportunities that arise to let others know what you are doing.

5. Steve Jobs said: “There’s a phrase in Buddhism, ‘Beginner’s mind.’ It’s wonderful to have a beginner’s mind.”
It is the kind of mind that can see things as they are, which step by step and in a flash can realize the original nature of everything. Beginner’s mind is Zen practice in action. It is the mind that is innocent of preconceptions and expectations, judgments and prejudices. Think of beginner’s mind as the mind that faces life like a small child, full of curiosity and wonder and amazement.

6. Steve Jobs said: “We think basically you watch television to turn your brain off, and you work on your computer when you want to turn your brain on.”
Reams of academic studies over the decades have amply confirmed television’s pernicious mental and moral influences. And most TV watchers know that their habit is mind-numbing and wasteful, but still spend most of their time in front of that box. So turn your TV off and save some brain cells. But be cautious, you can turn your brain off by using a computer also. Try and have an intelligent conversation with someone who plays first person shooters for 8 hours a day. Or auto race games, or role-playing games.

7. Steve Jobs said: “I’m the only person I know that’s lost a quarter of a billion dollars in one year…. It’s very character-building.”
Don’t equate making mistakes with being a mistake. There is no such thing as a successful person who has not failed or made mistakes, there are successful people who made mistakes and changed their lives or performance in response to them, and so got it right the next time. They viewed mistakes as warnings rather than signs of hopeless inadequacy. Never making a mistake means never living life to the full.

8. Steve Jobs said: “I would trade all of my technology for an afternoon with Socrates.”
Over the last decade, numerous books featuring lessons from historical figures have appeared on the shelves of bookstores around the world. And Socrates stands with Leonardo da Vinci, Nicholas Copernicus, Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein as a beacon of inspiration for independent thinkers. But he came first. Cicero said of Socrates that, “He called philosophy down from the skies and into the lives of men.” So use Socrates’ principles in your life, your work, your learning, and your relationships. It’s not about Socrates, it’s really about you, and how you can bring more truth, beauty and goodness into your life everyday.

9. Steve Jobs said: “We’re here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise why else even be here?”
Did you know that you have big things to accomplish in life? And did you know that those big things are getting rather dusty while you pour yourself another cup of coffee, and decide to mull things over rather than do them? We were all born with a gift to give in life, one which informs all of our desires, interests, passions and curiosities. This gift is, in fact, our purpose. And you don’t need permission to decide your own purpose. No boss, teacher, parent, priest or other authority can decide this for you. Just find that unique purpose.

10. Steve Jobs said: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Are you tired of living someone else’s dream? No doubt, its your life and you have every right to spend it in your own individual way without any hurdles or barriers from others. Give yourself a chance to nurture your creative qualities in a fear-free and pressure-free climate. Live a life that YOU choose and be your own boss.

Each lesson might be difficult to integrate into your life at first, but if you ease your way into each lesson, one at a time, you’ll notice an immediate improvement in
your overall performance. So go ahead, give them a try.

Money for bloggers!

Status Quo Rossi ParfittImage via Wikipedia

The UK launch of ebuzzing signals a new channel for brands and advertisers to reach highly targeted audiences via social media. It also monetises bloggers so that they receive (fully disclosed) payment for writing about the campaigns that interest them.

Established wisdom dictates that blogs are sacred and therefore should remain free from advertising and the kind of commercialism that might warp editorial values and curtail honest, unbiased expression, right?
Set to test this status quo is ebuzzing, a ‘social media advertising’ service from the Wikio stable which has just launched in the UK, aiming to connect bloggers with advertisers for cash.
The concept of ‘blog-vertising’ isn’t anything new, with a raft of companies in the US trying to carve out market share, whilst ebuzzing itself launched its French HQ back in 2006.
As an advertising channel the blogshere makes total sense as certain blogs not only boast a valuable and rich list of subscribers, but have also developed an authority, making bloggers such a highly sought after commodity for advertisers.
In Europe, ebuzzing has already run campaigns for the likes of ebay, Diesel, Mastercard, Microsoft and Toyota, and with such high profile brands on board should bloggers here have anything to fear from the company landing in the UK?
How does it work?
Once registered, bloggers are able to select which campaign they would like to participate in, based upon their interests and likes. Brands are then able to engage with these social media communities through video broadcasting, ethical and disclosed sponsored conversation, widget seeding and forum conversation. By paying bloggers for their work, based upon pre agreed campaign parameters and a blog’s Wikio ranking, ebuzzing ensures accountability and scale.
What is great about blog-vertising, or social media advertising in the case of ebuzzing, is that it is up to the blogger whether they deem the campaigns on offer both relevant and interesting to their community. Should they decide in the positive, then it is a win-win, as the author earns and the brand benefits.
Compared with banner advertising and even search, blog-vertising offers an advertising channel though which sponsored content can be broadcast to an incredibly targeted audience as bloggers live or die based on the relevance of the content they post.
Paul Coggins, the UK’s newly appointed MD, ebuzzing said: “ebuzzing simultaneously determines a blog’s authority and gives advertisers a previously unavailable route through which to mine the online universe and ultimately engage with their consumers. Uniquely, our relationship with the Wikio Group also gives our advertisers access to Europe’s largest pool of influential blogs and delivers a clear benefit to all those in this particular value-chain.”
With the rules and perceived etiquette around social media and advertising constantly evolving, ebuzzing should be commended for creating a service which not only recognises and respects the unique requirements of blogger, advertiser and audience, but actually monetises the whole process. What is more, ebuzzing already has an impressive pedigree with some serious backing. The company is the B2B part of the Wikio group and led by Kelkoo founder, Pierre Chappaz which was sold to Yahoo! in 2004 for EUR475 million.
About the author and ebuzzing
Steve Green is a director at PR and social media agency, infomob, which represents ebuzzing. ebuzzing is a platform for bringing bloggers and advertisers together. It is based on a simple principle: Like. Recommend. Earn. It allows bloggers to monetise their blog, earning money by creating posts about things they genuinely like and want to recommend, whilst advertisers can create buzz for themselves in the communities that are most likely to be interested in them. It has the ambition of creating a pan-European marketplace where advertisers and microsite creators can meet.

Online Property Rentals Drop 50%

The latest quarterly analysis of online search data by leading independent search and social marketing consulting and technology firm Greenlight, reveals that unlike February, there were more online searches made by UK consumers in May for places to buy as opposed to rent. The report, ‘Real Estate Sector Report May 2010‘, also reveals that when it came to sales by location, Scotland proved the most sought after region. Edinburgh was most popular followed by Glasgow then Aberdeen. Cumulatively, they accounted for 19% of all location-specific sales keyword searches.

sing industry data and proprietary technology, Greenlight identified and classified 2,800 of the most popular search terms used by UK consumers when they went online in May to look for accommodation to rent or buy. The research profiled generic lettings keywords, generic sales keywords, lettings by location and sales by location. Greenlight also used the data to compile its quarterly league table of the top 60 real estate companies and aggregators, in both natural* and paid search**, based on their website’s visibility in relation to the most popular search terms. Greenlight also ranked the 15 most proactive real estate brands and aggregators in social media.
Some key findings reveal:
· There were 1.7 million searches performed for real estate-related keywords. This was a 10% increase since April, when over 1.5 million searches were made
· Of the total, 681,000 consumer searches were sales-related whilst 630,000 were for lettings. This compares to 619,000 and 1.3 million, respectively, in February
· The term ‘Houses for sale’ accounted for 301,000 searches in May, which was 17% of all real estate-related searches, compared to 13% in February. In fact, 75% of all generic sales searches consisted of just three keywords, ‘Houses for sale’, ‘Property for sale’ and ‘Home for sale’. Websites which achieved visibility for those few terms secured much of the overall share of voice
· Overall, RightMove was the most visible real estate website in natural search, achieving 80% visibility. It was also the most visible site for sales-related searches, achieving a dominant 99% visibility through ranking at position one for 25 keywords
· For sales by location, the terms ‘Edinburgh property’ and ‘Glasgow property’ were searched for 22,200 times each. Cumulatively they accounted for 16% of a total of 283,000 location-specific searches. FindaProperty was the most visible website for sales by location achieving 47% visibility
· Searches for rental by location accounted for 150,000 searches with London featuring in 16% followed by Glasgow with 5% then Edinburgh (4%)
· Zoopla was the most visible advertiser in paid search achieving 67% visibility

To gauge social media interaction with brands, Greenlight monitored the Facebook and Twitter accounts of the top 15 brands in its integrated league table (Table 1, above), in order to assess how many ‘fans’ and ‘followers’ each has. Greenlight ranked brands based on the cumulative value of their ‘fans’ and ‘followers’, a score which it terms the Social Media Popularity Index (SMPI). It further analysed the proactivity of brands by considering the number of ‘posts’ and ‘tweets’ brands produced for consumers to interact with in May. Greenlight’s SMPI reveals:
· Gumtree was the most followed real estate-related brand in social media, with a combined following of over 10,000 on Facebook and Twitter
· VivaStreet was by far the most interactive brand, as it cumulatively produced 3,292 ‘posts’ and ‘tweets’ in May. As it is a multi-channelled website, some content on its Twitter account was not related to property, yet over 1,100 ‘tweets’ displayed live updates of flats to rent in various locations
· By comparison, a large number of real estate brands utilised social networking relatively little. UNITE-Students currently does not have official Facebook or Twitter accounts and therefore it is missing out on vital interaction
